This week on the big show, we talk with Representative Steve Simon, Chairman of the house elections committee about some of the many changes to election law they are considering this session. Among them, early voting and no excuse absentee voting, the expansion of vote by mail and joining the National Popular Vote compact. But that is an abbreviated list, there are many more things we get into.
Before that Aaron and myself talk about the big news of the week, the announcement by Republican Senator Branden Petersen that he will be supporting marriage equality. And we talk about the small news of the week, and there was certainly some small news this week!

Our guest this week on the LeftMN Radio Hour is proprietor of the Four Firkins (which, in the author's opinion, is the very best adult beverage emporium in this fine state), Jason Alvey. Jason talks about the genesis of the Four Firkins, the burgenoing Twin Cities beer scene and the difficulties of changing outdated beer laws.
Last legislative session he was able to get the law changed to allow him to sell t-shirts in his store, which, contrary to all common-sense, had been against the law. This session he is trying to get an even bigger boulder up the hill, he's trying to change the law so he can sell beer on Sunday's.
Prior to that Aaron and myself talk about the results of the Bonus elections, some recent developments concerning Marriage equality, and make fun of the ridiculous article that David Strom wrote for MinnPost.

We also talk about what the DFL is doing in the upcoming legislative special elections and issues surrounding the possible distribution of voter files.
Before that, Aaron and myself talk about the SurveyUSA poll that came out this week, "Emo" Erik Paulsen and Governor Dayton's State of the State address.

This week on the LeftMN Radio Hour we welcome former Minnesota State Senator and current adviser to Governor Mark Dayton on Energy and the Environment Ellen Anderson. With her we discuss the Minnesota Environmental Congress and other issues surrounding the environment, specifically issues pertinent to Minnesota. A partial list of things we touch on; Minnesota's energy portfolio, sulfide mining, frac sand mining and of course, climate change.
In the first half of the show we play a PSA from Gruesome Glenn Gruenhagen, from Glencoe about why frac sand mining is God's will. We also discuss a stampede of despondent elephants in Arden Hills and an actual, real, live election that happened this week.
