Sunday Dec 30, 2012

Sunday Dec 30, 2012

On this final LeftMN Radio Hour before the new year, we replay two of our favorite interviews from the last year. First, our interview with former Minnesota Governor Arne Carlson about the Photo Voter ID Amendment.
Many people have speculated that it was Gov. Carlson's advocacy against the amendment that may have helped to turn the tide in the last few weeks.
In the second half of the show we replay our interview with Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe. With talked with him about his advocacy against the Marriage Amendment as well as some other topics.
Happy New Year!

Taking a cue from MN Progressive Project's worst legislator article, we offer our own submission in the form of a reprise of an old interview with Brick City Blog's Sean Olsen concerning one Ernest Leidiger.
And with bipartisan talk of Minnesota joining the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, we replay the interview we did with that groups President, Barry Fadem.

With Representative-elect Isaacson we talk about his campaign, freshman legislative orientation, and what he's going to be focusing on in his first session as a legislator. Oh, of course we talk about the budget as well.
This interview was also on last weeks podcast, but due to a technical issue (producer incompetence) the previous weeks show actually played on the radio.
We spend the first segment, as we always do, talking about the week in Minnesota Politics. In the second segment, we discuss the tragic events in Newton, Connecticut and ruminate on what can be done to prevent such events in the future.

Oh, of course we talk about the budget as well.
We spend the rest of the time bloviating about such things as how awesome I am at the Twitter, hint, pretty freaking awesome. The Great Mentioner, who is he exactly? Possibly competitive elections for Minneapolis Mayor (maybe) and City Council (fur sure). And how two National issues may effect the goings on at the Capitol this session.

LeftMN Radio Hour 10-28-12

Sunday Oct 28, 2012

Sunday Oct 28, 2012

This week on the LeftMN Radio Hour we talk with former Governor and current co-chair of the Our Vote Our Future campaign, Arne Carlson. Governor Carlson is a vocal and persuasive advocate against the amendment and makes a very convincing case for why it needs to be defeated.
We also spend some time dissecting the claims made by one Kurt Bills in a certain television advertisement regarding one Tom Petters and one Amy Klobuchar. This is probably the most cogent explanation of what happened that could possibly be done in nine minutes. Srsly.
Also, because it's less then two weeks away, we talk about Election Stuff!
